~~Welcome to Genealogy Merit Badge
Attached to this message is the workbook for the merit badge. Each scout needs to print this and bring with him to the Merit Badge College.
There are three prerequisites which need to be completed before the College.
Requirement 3
With your parents help interview by phone, in person, by letter or email a relative . The ideal person is a grand parent or older acquaintance of the family. The Scouts need to write down what they are told. The interview is very simple to do. Suggested questions for the interview are on Page 16 of the Merit Badge handbook.
Requirement 6
Begin your family tree by listing yourself and two additional generations. The charts to use are in the Workbook attached to this email.
Requirement 7
Complete a family group record form, listing yourself and your brothers and sisters as the children. On another family group record form show one of your parents and his or her brothers and sisters as the children. The charts to use are in the workbook attached to this email.
Ask your parents for help on these three prerequisites. Complete them and you will earn the Genealogy Merit Badge on the day of the Merit Badge College.
