NOTICE

Meritbadge.Info is aging out!

Rodrigo and Mike started the site after a Wood Badge course in 2005. We used to be a bear and a good ole bear too.  Our goal was to make it easier for event managers to setup, manage, and track merit badge classes without getting mired in reams of paper from the postal service.

We are proud to say, after nearly 15 years, we offered over 2,800 events, 46,000 classes with over 245,000 participants taking nearly 410,000 seats via 1.4 million visitors. All of this in an hour per week. We realize this will disappoint quite a few loyal scouters who have used and promoted our project for many years.  We cannot tell you how much we have appreciated your feedback, gratitude, and patience when we needed to fix something.  We could not do it without you.

Unfortunately, the site needs a major overhaul. Neither of us has the time to redesign the registration system to meet these emerging requirements.  For this reason, it is time to shut it down. Here is the approach:

First, we have disabled the ability to create new events.  The events that are using the registration system up through May 2020 will be honored, but all others events will be blocked.

Second, if you have managed events in the past, we suggest you sign on and create a backup excel file for your records.  We still have adults looking for "blue cards" sometimes over a year after an event.

Sometime in Q2 2020, we will take the site offline.

About Meritbadge.Info

This is provided as a free service to scouters who desire to use the site.

Anyone can sign-up to be a Unit Leader, Merit Badge Counselor, and Event Manager.  To do so, simply create a new user, and select these options at the bottom of the form.  If you want more access, please send an email to admin@meritbadge.info explaining your current role as a scouter and why you need higher access.

Reporting Defects

When reporting defects, please hit the back button on your browser and press the Prnt Scrn key on the top right of your keyboard.  Paste the image captured by printscreen into the defect report and explain the circumstances where you got this defect.  It helps to have your email ID, the page where the defect occurred, the information you entered, and anything else that helps us reproduce the error.  Our goal is to make this a solid web application that is used and enjoyed by Scouters.  We appreciate your help making this possible.

Meritbadge.info is provided as a free service.  Using this means you are willing to accept the fact that we work for a living and cannot spend inordinate amounts of time making changes, repairing damage, and providing support for you.  We will do our best because we want to make it easy for the scouts to find and complete their merit badges.  Please be patient if we do not respond to your email promptly.  Regardless of the response time, We still want to hear from you.

Merit Badge Counselors

Address and phone number information may be marked so it does not get shown to the scouts and scouters registering for merit badges.  Yet, this information is helpful to manage events.  I urge you to enter this information and uncheck the show checkbox if you do not want this published.  The Event Managers understand and appreciate your desire for privacy.

Yours in Scouting,
Mike Jenkins & Rodrigo Cano
Wood Badge 92-46, Bear Patrol

Privacy Policy

Mike and Rodrigo built this system to allow scouters to sign up for events on a first-come, first serve basis and to allow event managers to focus on event quality by automating the drudgery associated with collecting information. All data collected by this site is used to simplify and expedite the registration process. This information is not for sale to anyone and is not shared with third parties.

Contributions...

Meritbadge.info began as a Wood Badge ticket item. (92-46 Bear Patrol)

The registration system was an offshoot that initially took a couple of weekends. Since then, Rodrigo and Mike have constantly improved the tools to provide scouts with more opportunities for advancement and fun.

Use of the website is free. We only ask that you help us make it better by providing constructive feedback and tell everyone you know in other areas about it so the opportunities for scout events continue to grow.  We also appreciate your testimonials.

If you really like what we are providing, send us both a patch for our collection.
