Sustainability*
Introduction
Sustainability requires living within our world's ability to regenerate the things we need to live. As good Scouts, we try to leave things better than we found them. We should try to do all we can to ensure generations to come will also have what they need. While earning this merit badge Scouts will gain an understanding of the many ways in which they can help conserve the land, forests, air, water, wildlife, and limited resources we all share.
Pre-Requisites – …“Be Prepared”
Please read the latest version of the Sustainability merit badge book prior to the class. These books can be borrowed from your Troop Librarian, or ordered from The Atlanta Area Scout Shop, phone (770) 988-9912, or visit the Scout Shop at 1800 Circle 75 Parkway, Se, Atlanta, GA 30339.
Please print out a copy of the Sustainability Workbook and bring a copy with you to the class. By using this Requirements Resources link (use only with your parent's permission) you will find additional information that will help you with your prerequisite tasks.
For this Merit Badge Class you will be required to work on several of the requirements before coming to the class.
Requirement # 1... Please enter your personal notes, and the comments you got from your family members, into the Worksheet you printed out and be prepared to discuss these topics in class with your Counselor.
Requirement # 4… Please choose and complete two of the six available categories before coming to class. Enter your personal notes, and the comments you got from your family members into the Worksheet you printed out and be prepared to discuss these topics in class with your Counselor.
Requirement # 6… To assist you in completing this requirement please read pages 89-91 and use pages 94-95 in the Sustainability merit badge book. Please enter your notes into the Worksheet that you printed out and be prepared to discuss these topics in class with your Counselor.
