Biography
Why I am qualified to teach
Camping*
Camping is a big part of putting the "outing" in Scouting.

I'm delighted to be able to share the skills and experiences from having led 2 Philmont expeditions and countless nights camping with our Troop!

I sleep better outdoors than in my own bed.....
Prerequisites for this Activity Camping
Pre-Requisites –        …“Be Prepared”

Please read the latest version of the Camping merit badge booklet prior to the class. These books can be borrowed from your Troop Librarian, or ordered from The Atlanta Area Scout Shop, phone (770) 988-912, or visit the Scout Shop at 1800 Circle 75 Parkway, Se, Atlanta, GA 30339.

Please print out a copy of the Camping Workbook and bring a copy with you to the class.

Bring all the gear necessary for a camping trip and the tent you will sleep in on a typical campout.

For this Merit Badge Class you will be required to work on several of the requirements before coming to the class. These requirements are centered around hands-on camping and cooking in the outdoors. A signed Blue Card or email/note from your Scoutmaster are acceptable evidence of having completed these pre-requisities.

These requirements centered around actual camping and cooking experience cannot be completed in class:

4.b -  Help a Scout patrol or a Webelos Scout unit in your area prepare for an actual campout, including creating the duty roster, menu planning, equipment needs, general planning, and setting up camp.
5.e - Present yourself to your Scoutmaster with your pack for inspection. Be correctly clothed and equipped for an
overnight campout.
8.d - Cook at least one breakfast, one lunch, and one dinner for your patrol from the meals you have planned for

  2. On any of these camping experiences, you must do TWO of the following, only with proper preparation and under qualified supervision.
