ELECTRONICS MERIT BADGE CLINIC INFORMATION:

Get ready to have fun! This is an exciting merit badge clinic where you will get to solder a rather complicated electronics kit and walk out with a working gadget... even if you've never soldered before. You'll learn about electronics, and have fun at the same time.

Here's how to prepare:

Please get ahold of an Electronics Merit Badge pamphlet from your local Scout Shop or troop library and read it! The better you prepare, the more you will learn on Saturday.

1. Please complete the Electronics Merit Badge worksheet at http://meritbadge.org/wiki/images/e/ee/Electronics.pdf to prepare for class. Scan, or take pictures, and email it to me.
2. We will cover requirements 1,3,4,5,and 6 in class. Please complete requirement #2 prior to class as part of the worksheet mentioned above.
3. We will give you a kit and batteries at the clinic to build and keep. Bring an inexpensive pair of stereo earphones (ie cheap ipod style earphones) with you to the clinic to use when your kit is assembled.
4. We will set up soldering stations tables for the scouts to assemble their kits.
5. We greatly appreciate parents and scouters who are able to help out in the classroom. We like to have at least one parent volunteer at each table to help the scouts as Mr Nuttall circulates. You don't need to know electronics or soldering to help.
6. The kits will take 2 - 2.5 hours to assemble. That leaves us about 1.5 - 2 hrs to finish the other requirements and sign blue cards.
7. A Scout is Helpful and Clean: Scouts will be asked to help set up, break down, pack, and clean up the tables and room before we leave.
