If you are having trouble registering scouts, carefully read the information on the help tab.
If you send an email that does not include the information we need to help you, it wastes time and will get promptly deleted.
Test drive the new site (in progress) at New Meritbadge.Info.Leave comments at our Facebook page.

Notice!!! Meritbadge.Info will switch to the new site with BSA validation Friday morning March 13th.

If you wish to start using this site today, click here to launch meritbadge.info/mbn2

Adults must enter their BSA Number, DOB, First and Last name as it appears on their BSA ID card. We will query BSA and get back an answer. At this point one of three things can happen:
1) Your registration is verified - you can continue using Meritbadge.info normally
2) You are not registered or your registration has lapsed - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login
3) You are registered but your YPT has expired - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login

You have had at least two months to get yourself registered and complete YPT training. If you feel your validation is not working, send us an email with the four data items listed and we will validate your entry.

We have no control over what is on file at BSA. If everything matches your BSA ID card, there should be no issues. If not, your validation will fail.

Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.

How will we do this?

What should you do?
Login to https://my.scouting.org/ and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on Meritbadge.info.  Let others in your unit know they should do the same.  We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

http://meritbadgenet.net/mbn/EventDetails.aspx?ID=270

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT FOR REGISTRATION:

The last day to register on-line for all events at the University of Scouting (UoS) for adults or Merit Badge College for Boy Scouts, at Shelton State Community College, is  December 31, 2008.

Please, note:

1. Unlike the originally scheduled UoS, there will not be a menu choice for lunch.

2. You can now down-load your transcript from the Shelton State Community College web site.  Information on how to do so is found below in the "Unit Sign-up Instructions" section.

The UoS for Adult Leader Training is sponsored by the Black Warrior Council, Tuscaloosa, AL.  It is promoted via http://www.meritbadge.info/.  Please be advised that in order to participate in this event each Troop may be required to file a separate request for a Tour Permit with their local Council.

We are guests of the Shelton State Community College, 9500 Old Greensboro Road, Tuscaloosa, AL  35405, as well as the Alabama Fire College.  As a scout, "Leave No Trace" is the order of the day.  There may be other events on campus.  As such, our behavior will determine whether or not we will do this event again.

Unit Sign-up Instructions

How to access your University of Scouting transcript records that are in the Shelton State Community College data base. This process is used ONLY to acquire your transcript and not to register for UOS.

1. Go to www.sheltonstate.edu

2. Place cursor over "Current Students."

3. Click on "Access Online Student Account."

4. Read the material that may apply to you.  Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "Continue To Register." The web registration this refers to is for Shelton State Community College Students and not UoS students.  The University of Scouting students use Meritbadgenet.com

5. Scroll to the bottom and click on "Student Account." Enter your Student ID number.  If you do not know your Shelton State Community College student number, you can use your social security number.

6. Enter your Password.  Your temporary password is the month, day, and year of birth.  If you were born on January 5, 1975,your password is 010575.  If you were born on October 21, 1976, your password is 102176.  If you have any problems, please contact the Shelton State Community College admissions office.

7. After gaining access to your file, please, update all personal data, check for transcript accuracy, and print a copy to take to the UoS.

8. If you have a question about your transcript records, please contact William Aldridge.  Do not contact Shelton State Community College.

9. Print these instructions to use again to check your updated transcript after the event.

REGISTERING ADULTS ON-LINE

Unless indicated otherwise, all requirements for the Adult Leader Training should be covered in class.

Please note that all participants are registered by troop.  One leader from each pack, troop, or crew may register all adult volunteers.  If this is not possible, adults may register separately.  The process is very similar to going to summer camp.

1.  Before you register, you need to do a few things first.  If you register for yourself, it is required that you check the box marked “Unit Leader” on the “User Profile” information page.  You get there by pressing the “My Profile” button on the main page.

2.  Next, to help you in the registration process, it is advisable that you print out a hard copy of the classes offered on the first page of the web site and a hard copy of these registration directions before you proceed.

3.  Now press the “Unit Sign Up” button at the top of the first page of event.

4.  You are now on the “Scout Registration” page.  Press the drop down menu arrow for all upcoming events to locate the “University of Scouting: Adult Leader Training; Tuscaloosa, AL” Click on it.

5.  Go to the bottom of the same page and locate your name in the “Unit Leader Roster.”  It should have a “No” next to your name under “Attending Event.”  Press the blue “Toggle” button to change “No” to “Yes.” Now you may register for classes.

6.  Now enter your first name, last name, phone number, and e-mail.  For age, please, enter 20 from the drop down menu.  Note:  this online system is adapted from a Merit Badge system for Boy Scouts and Venture Crews.

7.  To register for your first class you must first select a “Session” time from the drop down menu to find out what classes are offered at that time.  You then select one from all of the classes offered at that time.  The logic is like channel surfing TV to find out what is offered at a particular time.  This is where the class list you printed out a few moments ago comes in handy.  You then press the “Add” button and you are now registered for that one class.  If you registered for the wrong class or change you mind later, just hit the delete button next to the class by your name.

8.  To register for a second class you go to a different time and select from that list of classes.  Please, make sure that if you select a two hour class, you skip an hour before you select another class.  For example, if you select a two hour class beginning at 0900, you should not sign up for another class until 1100.

9.  Now you are ready to pay.  Please click this link to print out the Registration Form to send to the Scout Office with your payment.

10.  If you are experiencing any technical problems, please, contact William Aldridge by using the above contact information.  Once you have learned the process, please help others.

ERROR MESSAGES AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT

1.  If you ever encounter an error message, just hit the back arrow on your web browser and press the "update" button again.  If it fails after two attempts, please e-mail William Aldridge. Also, please include your day and night telephone number.

2.  I have noticed that it takes two attempts to enter the Council name and District name.  When you enter the Council name and District name, please check the drop-down menu first.  For members of the Black Warrior Council, please use the drop-down menu.  Please register by December 31, 2008.

Please note that instructors request e-mail or telephone numbers for coordination.
