Meritbadge.Info lives!

Jamie Leonard, A fellow scouter in Oskaloosa Iowa and David Landriam-Shrewsbury from NE Georgia introduced us to the Chief Scout Executive who then introduced us to Vijay Challa and Norbert Harasimiuk, the BSA National IT team.  We met with Vijay and Norbert Friday Jan 10th and had a highly rewarding discussion.  Thanks to everyone involved, we will not be shutting down meritbadge.info.  If you know Jamie or David, thank them for leading the charge to make this happen.  

We are making some changes.   Starting March 01,  2020, every user must have a valid BSA ID to manage events, register scouts, and update counselor pages.   BSA does background checks on all registered adults and we will follow their lead before granting access.   

Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.  

How will we do this? 
When you update your profile, you will be required to provide: Last name, first name, BSA ID, and your Date of Birth.   The website will submit this to BSA to validate your account.  BSA will return your Council, District, Unit, and the date you completed Youth Protection training.  We will periodically validate this access level with BSA and update your registration status based on the data returned.

What should you do? 
Login to https://my.scouting.org/ and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on Meritbadge.info.  Let others in your unit know they should do the same.  We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

Bring your own lunch or lunch will be provided at a cost of $7.00. Two slices of pizza, chips and a drink. There will also be other snacks available for sale.

 
Counselor Information
Scouts should bring blue cards signed by their scoutmaster and the merit badge counselor will document the requirements covered at the merit badge clinic.

Each scout may register online at meritbadge.info. Pre- registration allows a Scout to reserve their spot in class.
