NOTICE

Meritbadge.Info is aging out!

Rodrigo and Mike started the site after a Wood Badge course in 2005. We used to be a bear and a good ole bear too.  Our goal was to make it easier for event managers to setup, manage, and track merit badge classes without getting mired in reams of paper from the postal service.

We are proud to say, after nearly 15 years, we offered over 2,800 events, 46,000 classes with over 245,000 participants taking nearly 410,000 seats via 1.4 million visitors. All of this in an hour per week. We realize this will disappoint quite a few loyal scouters who have used and promoted our project for many years.  We cannot tell you how much we have appreciated your feedback, gratitude, and patience when we needed to fix something.  We could not do it without you.

Unfortunately, the site needs a major overhaul. Neither of us has the time to redesign the registration system to meet these emerging requirements.  For this reason, it is time to shut it down. Here is the approach:

If you know someone at BSA national who can provide an API where 1) we send an adult registration number and 2) BSA returns the adult's Council, District, and Unit information, we will keep the website going.

First, we have disabled the ability to create new events.  The events that are using the registration system up through May 2020 will be honored, but all others events will be blocked.

Second, if you have managed events in the past, we suggest you sign on and create a backup excel file for your records.  We still have adults looking for "blue cards" sometimes over a year after an event.

Sometime in Q2 2020, we will take the site offline.

Description

New Hanover County Fire Rescue have pooled public safety partners and experts to provide scouts with first rate merit badge sessions.  Please join us for our fourth annual merit badge college.

This event will take place on August 17, 2019 at Cape Fear Community College's North Campus.

We have added new merit badges this year and hope to add a few more in the next weeks as merit badge counselors are confirmed.

8:00  Flag ceremony

8:15-12:15  Session 1 (AM/Morning session)

Class A uniform (MB sash optional)

Read MB book before class, complete any stated pre-requisites, have paper/pen/merit badge worksheet (if needed) to take notes.

Use of electronic devices will not be tolerated during classroom instruction unless part of the class.

Lunch is provided on site and is included as part of the fee.

Registration is $15 per scout which includes lunch, a patch, and merit badge sessions.

Adult lunches are available for $5 for those remaining on site with their scouts.

**Multiple session classes**  Some classes take the morning and afternoon session to complete.  They are listed as AM/PM classes.

There will not be a closing ceremony and you are free to leave after classes have dismissed.

Some merit badges will not be completed.  It will be noted which requirements will be completed during the session.  For partial merit badge completion, it is the scouts responsibility to follow up with their scoutmaster or the merit badge counselor after the event.  We will not be signing off work completed prior to the event because of the limited amount of time the merit badge counselors have during the event.

We will not provide blue cards.  This year we will provide a print out of the completed requirements with the merit badge counselor's signature similar to the format used at summer camp.
