If you are having trouble registering scouts, carefully read the information on the help tab.
If you send an email that does not include the information we need to help you, it wastes time and will get promptly deleted.
Test drive the new site (in progress) at New Meritbadge.Info.Leave comments at our Facebook page.

Notice!!! Meritbadge.Info will switch to the new site with BSA validation Friday morning March 13th.

If you wish to start using this site today, click here to launch meritbadge.info/mbn2

Adults must enter their BSA Number, DOB, First and Last name as it appears on their BSA ID card. We will query BSA and get back an answer. At this point one of three things can happen:
1) Your registration is verified - you can continue using Meritbadge.info normally
2) You are not registered or your registration has lapsed - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login
3) You are registered but your YPT has expired - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login

You have had at least two months to get yourself registered and complete YPT training. If you feel your validation is not working, send us an email with the four data items listed and we will validate your entry.

We have no control over what is on file at BSA. If everything matches your BSA ID card, there should be no issues. If not, your validation will fail.

Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.

How will we do this?

What should you do?
Login to https://my.scouting.org/ and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on Meritbadge.info.  Let others in your unit know they should do the same.  We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

Description
Troop 479's Merit Badge Clinic provides a Quality Merit Badge Program that helps Scouts learn about different fields of knowledge by recruiting experienced professional counselors and maintaining a limited classroom size.

.
Counselor Information
All Scouts must bring to class the following:

 - Blue Card SIGNED by their Scoutmaster (one per each Merit Badge)

 - Merit Badge booklet and Merit Badge worksheet... Worksheets

 - Any prerequisite work

The Blue Cards are to be updated with tasks completed in class and returned to the Scouts BEFORE they depart the classroom. It is the responsibility of the Scout to request and obtain his Blue Card.

PREREQUISITES: The Merit Badge Counselors will give clear, advance notice of their prerequisites for their Merit Badge class. The Merit Badge Counselors will give credit for completed requirements ONLY. The Scout should complete all other requirements not covered in class either because of Merit Badge project work or because of prerequisites that were not completed before the class. These will be done at the Scouts own pace and with his own troop counselors.

Unit Sign-up Instructions
RULES FOR PARTICIPATION:

  • Each unit must provide one adult for every 4 boys who participate. This will help us with crowd control, as well as insure quality of results within the classroom environment.

  • Scouts must have prior approval from their Scoutmaster before attending.

  • Scouts must behave in a Scout-like manner. Disruptive youth will be removed from the group and either spend the remainder of the day with their Scoutmaster or be picked up by their parent/guardian.

Note: The Unit adults are responsible for the scouts who attend.

RIGHT TO LIMIT OR CANCEL:  The Merit Badge Clinic will reserve the right to limit or cancel any class. Merit Badges to be offered are subject to change based on MB Counselor availability and class minimums. No walk-ins will be allowed. Registration by Troop is mandatory. Open and ending enrollment will be limited to the dates above indicated.

FIRST COME FIRST SERVE:  Scouts are admitted to classes on a first come, first served basis via the online registration system. There is no waiting list for any of the merit badges classes. Should you encounter booked classes, please monitor this website in case seats become available.

EXPECTATION:   Scouts are strongly encouraged to read the Merit Badge Booklet and finish all prerequisites before attending the Merit Badge Clinic.

UNIFORM: The Full B.S.A. Class A uniform is the official uniform for the day. The merit badge sash may also be worn.

CODE OF CONDUCT:  The Scout Oath, the Law, and the Outdoor Code shall be the code of the Merit Badge Day. Adequate supervision must be provided by each participating unit.

TRANSPORTATION:  The troop Leaders must coordinate arrival and departure time for transportation. Troops need to make certain that they have adequate transportation for their Scouts. Please advise your parents not to drop off or pick up scouts. All transportation to and from the Merit Badge Clinic must be arranged within your troop. Encourage everyone to carpool. Troops may not leave Scouts by themselves to be picked up by parents at a later time. We are not resourced to render sitting services.

CLEAN UP:  The Scout is clean. Troop Leaders please coordinate with your troop to clean the premises and to keep the classrooms in the same condition as found. Future offerings of the Merit Badge Clinic will largely depend on how neat we leave the place. All garbage must be properly disposed into designated containers or carried out.

.
Payment Instructions for the Unit
The participation fee is $10 per Scout. Any additional fees for materials are indicated for designated classes. Troops are obligated to pay for the total number of Scouts registered from their troop. Please send your payment no later than February 1st, 2015. Registrations not paid by this date are subject to cancellation and reassignment to other waitlisted Scouts.

By Check - Please print two copies of your registration form from meritbadge.info.  Send one copy with your check for the total amount.  Retain the other registration copy for your records.  Please make checks payable to: "Troop 479" and mail to: Attn: Liz Abreu, 2940 Pete Shaw Road, Marietta, GA 30066.

Please note that we will only entertain 'online' registrations. Do not send payments unless you are already registered online. If you registered a Scout that will not be attending, please remove him from the registration so that other Scouts can benefit.

So that we can carefully manage classroom size, we request that you not ask Merit Badge Counselors to accept Scouts into their classes outside of using the online registration tool.

Once payment is received the registration fee is non-refundable. If the Scout does not attend on-the-day the amount paid will be forfeited.  However, troops may substitute Scouts as long as the total number and the Merit Badge subject does not change.
