Warning!!! You have until Mar 1 2020 to get yourself registered with BSA and complete YPT training.

Our progress with BSA is going well. We are hoping to be in beta testing by mid-February. Once this is activated, here is what to expect:

Adults must enter their BSA Number, DOB, First and Last name. We will poll BSA and get back an answer. At this point one of three things can happen:
1) Your registration is verified - you can continue using normally
2) You are not registered or your registration has lapsed - your prior rights are revoked and you get the same screens that you see before your login
3) You are registered but your YPT has expired - your prior rights are revoked and you get the same screens that you see before your login

You have about a month to get yourself registered and complete YPT training. After that, your access will be revoked.

We are making some changes.   Starting March 01,  2020, every user must have a valid BSA ID to manage events, register scouts, and update counselor pages.   BSA does background checks on all registered adults and we will follow their lead before granting access.   

Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.  

How will we do this? 
When you update your profile, you will be required to provide: Last name, first name, BSA ID, and your Date of Birth.   The website will submit this to BSA to validate your account.  BSA will return your Council, District, Unit, and the date you completed Youth Protection training.  We will periodically validate this access level with BSA and update your registration status based on the data returned.

What should you do? 
Login to and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on  Let others in your unit know they should do the same.  We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

2017 Melissa Merit Badge Pow Wow

This event requires attendance at two sessions in order to complete the course work.  Each class meets twice.  Some Merit Badge classes will require additional work outside the two class meetings.

DATE:   Saturday, October 28th and Saturday, November 11th

TIME:    8:00 AM to Noon each day.

LOCATION:  Same Location as last year- LDS Church located at 737 East Melissa Road, Melissa, TX

The location is easy to find.  It is near the Interchange of Hwy 5, Hwy 121, and Hwy 75 in Melissa, Texas.

From Hwy 75 take the Melissa Road exit and travel east for 1/4 mile.

From Hwy 5 turn west on Melissa Road for 1/2 mile.

The church is located on the corner of Melissa Rd and Fannin Rd.

THIS EVENT IS FREE. There is no cost.  However, it is first come first served in the registration processess.

Registration begins Friday, September 22nd and closes on Thursday, October 25th.

Note- during the registration process an invitation password is required.  Hint- Leave this cell blank.... there is no password.

Please- No food or drinks are allowed inside the building.  No food items are available at the event so the scouts should eat a good breakfast before arriving. ( Bottled water is allowed.)

Scouts are expected to wear their scout shirts and behave appropriately.

Contact information must be provided in the registration process in case a phone call is needed.

2017 Melissa Merit Badge Pow Wow

This year's MB Pow Wow will offer 16 different Merit Badges.

There are enough registration slots for over 300 potential MB's to be earned.

Last year over 150 scouts attended and earned over 250 merit badges.  These scouts represented 3 different Councils, 9 Districts, and 21 Scouting Units.

Some classes will require additional work outside of the two class sessions.  Due to unforseen conditions some classes may not be available.  The classes being offered this year include:

2017 Melissa Merit Badge Pow Wow  (MB Counselor Information)

Merit Badge Work sheets for each scout registered will be provided to each scout..  You do not need to provide these.  The scouts should write there names on the worksheets and should be instructed to bring them back for the second session on the 11th of November.

A roster/attendance form of registered scouts will also be provided to you.  Record what requirements were completed for each scout attending your class and turn these into the MB Administrator before leaving the event each Saturday.  The information will be recorded and the form returned to you before the second session starts..  Please be sure to identify any walk-in scouts attending your class on available column spaces.  Have them include their contact information (phone no., Unit No., and email address) on the back of the form.

Where possible one person should register scouts from each unit.  As this is not always possible, a contact name, phone number and e-mail address must be provided for every scout registering.

Make sure that scouts are not double booked in more than one class running at the same time.

Instruct the scouts to be on good behavior and to wear their uniform.  Have the scouts arrive 15 minutes before the first class starts.  No food and drinks (except water bottles) are allowed inside the building.

Contact the Event Administrator if you have questions.  The sign-up process can be a bit tricky if you are new to this. (Mark Williams-  (972) 342-6413)

NOTE:  No Blue Cards will be provided.  The Merit Badge work completed will be reported the same way it is done with summer camp records.  Please plan on sending a copy of the report to each of the parents and your advancement chair once you receive it.  This usually gets sent to you within two weeks of the last session.

All scouts will receive a copy of the class records sent to the email address used in the registration process.  Records will be maintained for 7 years.

Please have at least one adult from your unit attend the entire time the event is running.
