If you are having trouble registering scouts, carefully read the information on the help tab.
If you send an email that does not include the information we need to help you, it wastes time and will get promptly deleted.
Test drive the new site (in progress) at New Meritbadge.Info.Leave comments at our Facebook page.

Notice!!! Meritbadge.Info will switch to the new site with BSA validation Friday morning March 13th.

If you wish to start using this site today, click here to launch meritbadge.info/mbn2

Adults must enter their BSA Number, DOB, First and Last name as it appears on their BSA ID card. We will query BSA and get back an answer. At this point one of three things can happen:
1) Your registration is verified - you can continue using Meritbadge.info normally
2) You are not registered or your registration has lapsed - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login
3) You are registered but your YPT has expired - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login

You have had at least two months to get yourself registered and complete YPT training. If you feel your validation is not working, send us an email with the four data items listed and we will validate your entry.

We have no control over what is on file at BSA. If everything matches your BSA ID card, there should be no issues. If not, your validation will fail.

Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.

How will we do this?

What should you do?
Login to https://my.scouting.org/ and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on Meritbadge.info.  Let others in your unit know they should do the same.  We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

Sponsor Information

Four Troops from Frisco Texas are joining together to present the 2nd annual Iron Horse Merit Badge College. The program will be at First United Methodist Church, and features a wide variety of classes.

Description

The Iron Horse Merit Badge College takes place August 18, 2012. The day-long event consists of two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Most classes are offered at both sessions, but not all, so please note the session time for each class. The program is open to all Scouts. Classes include Eagle-required and elective merit badges. NOTE: Eagle-required classes are limited to Scouts who are First Class rank and above as of the day of the program.

Registration for counselors opens July 2nd.  Registration for all other Scouts begins July 9th. The registration fee is $15 per Scout whether attending one or both sessions. Some classes require additional fees for special materials, and those are noted in the "Class Fee" column. Fees are non-refundable once registration closes. Registration closes July 31st, and all fees are due no later than August 15th. Detailed payment instructions are described below.

Scouts will need the proper Merit Badge book. Look carefully at the requirements each class will cover, and take note in particular of any requirements listed as pre-work. In most cases this work is necessary to complete some or all of the requirements covered in class. Scouts should bring the pre-work to class so the counselor can evaluate it for proper credit, and so the Scout can use it as needed in Class.

Counselor Information

Although the classes have links to a merit badge web site, the official BSA merit badge site is our definitive source for current and past merit badge requirements, and we will work to make sure all counselors are  working with those requirements. In the case of any discrepancies between resources, the requirements on the BSA site will prevail. http://www.scouting.org/sitecore/content/Home/BoyScouts/AdvancementandAwards/MeritBadges.aspx

Unit Sign-up Instructions

Each Troop must designate one person from their Troop to act as registrar. This person must have a  user ID and password on the registration web site (http://meritbadge.info/mbn) to be able to enroll Scouts when registration opens. Those who have created an ID in past years should be able to use the same ID and password. Every registrar must indicate a Troop affiliation to be able to enroll Scouts, and each Troop must have at least one adult affiliated with their Troop on the web site before the site will permit the Troop to register Scouts.

Registration will begin on July 9th and will close on July 31st. All fees are due no later than August 15th.

NOTE: All Troops will be required to send 1 adult for every 5 Scouts registered. These adults will be in the classrooms to provide administrative assistance and help maintain discipline. For this purpose, two adults each attending half of the day will count as 1 adult for the full day. We will communicate separately with Troops with registered Scouts to explain this in more detail.

Payment Instructions for the Unit

All fees are due no later than  August 15, 2012. We reserve the right to drop all Scouts from any Troop that hasn't submitted full payment by this deadline. Troops should send in ONE check per unit, payable to "Troop 51". DO NOT MAIL CASH.

In the memo field on your check please put “IHMBC” and your Troop Number.
