If you are having trouble registering scouts, carefully read the information on the help tab.
If you send an email that does not include the information we need to help you, it wastes time and will get promptly deleted.
Test drive the new site (in progress) at New Meritbadge.Info.Leave comments at our Facebook page.

Notice!!! Meritbadge.Info will switch to the new site with BSA validation Friday morning March 13th.

If you wish to start using this site today, click here to launch meritbadge.info/mbn2

Adults must enter their BSA Number, DOB, First and Last name as it appears on their BSA ID card. We will query BSA and get back an answer. At this point one of three things can happen:
1) Your registration is verified - you can continue using Meritbadge.info normally
2) You are not registered or your registration has lapsed - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login
3) You are registered but your YPT has expired - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login

You have had at least two months to get yourself registered and complete YPT training. If you feel your validation is not working, send us an email with the four data items listed and we will validate your entry.

We have no control over what is on file at BSA. If everything matches your BSA ID card, there should be no issues. If not, your validation will fail.

Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.

How will we do this?

What should you do?
Login to https://my.scouting.org/ and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on Meritbadge.info.  Let others in your unit know they should do the same.  We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

2017 MERIT BADGE UNIVERSITY INFORMATION FOR SCOUTS AND LEADERS

MBU is a great opportunity for Scouts to work on advancement toward Eagle Scout and/or work toward earning a merit badge in one of 25 areas.

We want to make sure that the Scouts learn as much from the courses as possible. However, there are some requirements that cannot be completed within our MBU setting. These are items that the Scout will need to complete on their own once they get home and their local Scoutmaster will need to approve.

BE PREPARED:

• While not required, Scouts should consider printing and bringing the appropriate merit badge worksheets for the badge(s) they will work towards at MBU.  www.meritbadge.org is a great site to obtain this information.

• Scouts need to bring any and all reports, projects, “props” for demonstration, or any other requirements that have been completed beforehand. Be prepared to present these to your counselor during your class.  Bring any written approvals by parents or your Scoutmaster if needed.

• We strongly suggest that all Scouts bring paper, pencil and the merit badge books for their classes from your troop’s library. The merit badge book should be read before attending MBU. ALL SCOUTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS TO FULFILL THEIR MERIT BADGE REQUIREMENTS.

• A “Blue Card” sheet will be given to each Scout showing requirements completed as well as those not finished. It is then the Scout’s responsibility to get this to his Scoutmaster to record and sign off on the remaining work for that merit badge.

CONDUCT IN THE CHURCH:

• MBU is held throughout the entire church property. Conduct yourselves properly. Other than the opening flag ceremony, the church sanctuary is OFF LIMITS!

• If you see a Scout doing something they shouldn’t be doing, even if they aren’t in your Troop, please correct them. If you see a Scout doing something right, please congratulate them.

FOOD/SNACKS:

• Breakfast snack will consist of a granola/fruit bar.  Coffee will also be available.

• Lunch: TBD. It will be served in the church dining hall/fellowship halls.  If weather permits, we will eat outside at Wagner Park/Bandshell.

• NO FOOD OR DRINK will be allowed anywhere in the church besides the dining area.

REGISTRATION:

• Registration must be done online at www.meritbadge.info Registration is simple.  If you see an opening in the session you wish your scout to attend, there is an opening.  These will be accepted on a first come-first served basis. Payment is required to register and should be promptly mailed after registration has been completed.

• While it is possible to register an individual Scout, it is preferred to register as a Unit.  Meritbadge.info will require you to provide your council, district and unit number at registration. (Mid Iowa council Scouts and Scouters, please take a look at your registrations to make sure your information matches the new district names)

• Register early!  Classes for Eagle Scout-required badges as well as other popular merit badge classes fill up quickly.

• Once registered, Scouts are not allowed to change merit badge classes without prior approval.

FINGERPRINTING/CRIME PREVENTION and NATURE/REPTILE & AMPHIBIAN STUDY are being taught in the same session(s).  Please sign up once under Fingerprinting or Reptile/Amphibian Study.  Your Scouts will still be able to participate in another am or pm session as well.

REGISTRATION FEE:

• The registration fee is $25 per Scout.  (With written notice, this fee is 100% refundable up to two weeks before the event, 50% refundable one week before.)

• This fee includes participation in the morning and afternoon classes, a morning snack and lunch.

• Since we wouldn’t be able to have this without your willingness to get your Scouts to this event, we will provide a complimentary lunch to adult leaders.  There are several dining establishments within close driving distance if you wish to go off site as well.
