If you are having trouble registering scouts, carefully read the information on the help tab.
If you send an email that does not include the information we need to help you, it wastes time and will get promptly deleted.
Test drive the new site (in progress) at New Meritbadge.Info.Leave comments at our Facebook page.

Notice!!! Meritbadge.Info will switch to the new site with BSA validation Friday morning March 13th.

If you wish to start using this site today, click here to launch meritbadge.info/mbn2

Adults must enter their BSA Number, DOB, First and Last name as it appears on their BSA ID card. We will query BSA and get back an answer. At this point one of three things can happen:
1) Your registration is verified - you can continue using Meritbadge.info normally
2) You are not registered or your registration has lapsed - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login
3) You are registered but your YPT has expired - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login

You have had at least two months to get yourself registered and complete YPT training. If you feel your validation is not working, send us an email with the four data items listed and we will validate your entry.

We have no control over what is on file at BSA. If everything matches your BSA ID card, there should be no issues. If not, your validation will fail.

Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.

How will we do this?

What should you do?
Login to https://my.scouting.org/ and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on Meritbadge.info.  Let others in your unit know they should do the same.  We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

Counselor Information

Extra Blue Cards will be given to you at registration in case you have Scouts without one.  Counselors will only sign off  those requirements that were completed.

Unit Sign-up Instructions

Your Scouts should register for one merit badge, and only one.  All pre-requisites must be completed to ensure completion of the badge.  The Citizenship in the Nation, Insect Study, and Fish & Wildlife Management merit badge counselors require a signed authorization from the parents that they have their parents' permission to use the internet (with oversight) while working on these merit badges.

For Scouts signing up for Chess:  The Scouts must know the names of the pieces and how to set up a chess board.  They will demonstrate this at the start of the session.

(TENTATIVE) For Citizenship in the Nation:  The Scouts must complete Requirement 3 prior to coming.  They must watch the national evening news five days in a row OR read the front page of a major daily newspaper five days in a row. They will discuss the national issues they learned about with their counselor. They will also choose one of the issues and explain how it affects them and their families.  Also, the Scout should research ahead of time for a historical/national landmark that they had visited in the past and bring that information in to share with the other Scouts.

For Insect Study:  The Scouts must begin (or complete if possible) Requirement 4 and be prepared to share their scrapbooks with the counselor and tell everyone in the group what they've learned, as well as come with Requirement 11 completed and be prepared to tell everyone what they've learned.  (Requirement 7 will not be able to be completed as it does require time, and will be up to the Scout to complete.)

For Fish and Wildlife Management:  Scouts must begin (or complete if possible) Requirements 6a and 6c and be prepared to share their scrapbooks with their counselor and tell everyone in the group what they've learned, as well as come with Requirement 8 completed and be prepared to tell everyone what they've learned.   (Requirement 5 will not be able to be completed as it does require time, and will be up to the Scout to complete.)

For Fishing:  Scouts must complete research for Requirement 7and be prepared to discuss what they've learned with their counselor and group members.  Scouts will register and then need to be transported to the Chassell VFW to meet their instructor.  The coordinator will work wiht troops involved to get one vehicle to transport Scouts to the VFW.

For First Aid:  Scouts must have completed requirement #1 (have current knowledge of all first-aid requirements for Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class ranks.).  They must also bring a first aid kit from home and know what items are in it and how to use them (requirement #2d).

Payment Instructions for the Unit
Cost will be $5 per Scout.  The $5 will cover lunch which will be from from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.  Lunch will consist of pizza and a drink.  If adults would like to also participate in lunch, they can pay $5 at registration.
Directions to the Event
Registration will begin on the ground floor of Michigan Tech's Memorial Union Building where the university's food court is.  This is where the Scouts will eat lunch, and this is where we will end the day.  Scouts signing up for Fingerprinting which is a half-day merit badge will not have to pay the $5 if they are not participating in lunch.
