Adults must enter their BSA Number, DOB, First and Last name as it appears on their BSA ID card. We will query BSA and get back an answer. At this point one of three things can happen:
1) Your registration is verified - you can continue using Meritbadge.info normally
2) You are not registered or your registration has lapsed - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login
3) You are registered but your YPT has expired - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login

You have had at least two months to get yourself registered and complete YPT training. If you feel your validation is not working, send us an email with the four data items listed and we will validate your entry.

We have no control over what is on file at BSA. If everything matches your BSA ID card, there should be no issues. If not, your validation will fail.

Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.

What should you do? 
Login to https://my.scouting.org/ and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on Meritbadge.info.  Let others in your unit know they should do the same.  We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

Links at City Park



The 9-hole "City Park" course at the The Links at City Park facility in Portsmouth, Virginia features 1,846 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 30 . The course rating is 30.0 and it has a slope rating of 94.  Designed by (R) Thomas E. Clark, ASGCA/Curtis Strange, the City Park golf course opened in 1919. Robert L. Sutter, Jr. manages the course as the Manager.

Description

Parents and Scout Leaders read carefully.

Age: 13 and older

Scouts should bring their own clubs (if possible), golf balls and tees.

If a scout needs to rent the equipment, the costs are as follows:

Golf clubs = $5.00 (check Play-It-Again Sports or yard sales)

Golf balls = $8.00 for 12 (check Walmart or other stores)

Tees = $0.50 per bag of 12-15 (Check Walmart or other stores)



This will be an 18 hole event (2 trips around), double bogey event.

3 scouts will be paired with a Golf MBC for the event.

I currently have 5 MBC's, and can accept 15 scouts.

I am expecting more MBC and will open 3 slots per MBC.

MAX at this event will be 9 MBC's and 27 scouts.



This event will cover all the requirements of the Golf Merit Badge. There are no pre-req's for this event and the merit badge will be completed at this event.




REGISTRATION:

Pre-registration is REQUIRED via this website.



 

Payment is due upon registration, see below for more information. An email is sent to remind registered leaders and parents payment has not been received. Upon the second non-payment email, leaders and parents are notified the scout listed will be dropped from the event. 



UNIFORM: The Class "B" uniform (Troop t-shirt and shorts) is the uniform for the day.  Dress comfortably for the event as you will be outside for the event. Don't forget water and sunscreen!



CODE OF CONDUCT:

The Scout Oath, Law, the Outdoor Code and Leave No Trace are the code of the Merit Badge Event. A Scout whose conduct is not consistent with the code will be directed to leave immediately and without completing the merit badge.



CLEAN UP:

The Scout is clean and parctices Leave No Trace. Future offerings of the Merit Badge Day will largely depend on how neat we leave the place.



Food & Drink:

Snacks, Lunch and drinks will need to be brought to the event. There is a vending machine onsite, if you'd like to use it, then bring change. You may bring a cooler.

BLUE CARDS / Merit Badge Books.......



All Scouts must bring to class a Blue Card SIGNED by their Scoutmaster.  The GolfMerit Badge booklet can be found here and should bring it to the event:

The Blue Card will be updated with tasks completed in class and returned to Scout at the end of the merit badge class. It is the responsibility of the Scout to request and obtain his Blue Card before leaving. 


Unit Sign-up Instructions

In order to register for this class, you will need to register with the website. WALK-ups will be turned away. Please include your contact information such as phone number and email address in case we need to contact the scout in case of changes.



YOU WILL NEED TO INCLUDE YOUR SCOUTS TROOP NUMBER. IF YOU FAIL TO INCLUDE THE TROOP NUMBER WHEN YOU REGISTER, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REGISTER SO PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.



Once you have registered with the website, log on using your username and password. Locate the event you want to register for, and click the register red pill to the right. 



On the event website, scroll to the bottom and add a scout leader. Once that is done, you will be able to register your scout(s).



Please do not contact Mr. Colby to register your scout. You will need to follow the directions provided above.



CHECK IN: All blue cards will be turned in to Mr. Colby when the scout checks in.



CHECK OUT: Blue cards will be given out upon completion of the merit badge class. Blue cards not issued out will not be mailed. Scouts are responsible for the collection of their blue cards upon completion of the class.



If you preprint your merit badges, use Mr. Colby's information listed below.



Please ensure all Portions of the blue card are filled in with the scouts name, unit and this event. There have been several blue cards turned in blank or partially filled out.  as part of being Courteous, please fill out the blue card.


Payment Instructions for the Unit
There is a $10.00 fee for this merit badge class and this does not cover any rental fee. 

Payment due upon registration with the website. This is to cover expenses for usage of the Golf course. 

Failure to pay will result in scout being dropped from the event and the scout being released from the spot!! I will send a follow-up email to those not having paid as a reminder.

Golf carts will not be used unless preapproved by Mr. Colby.

All photographs, videos, or other media are the property of Mr. Colby and the Golf Course personel, or person designated by Mr. Colby and the Golf Course personel, and may be used for any purpose without additional consent.



The Golf course may take photos to promote this event.



There will be a group photo at the end of the event to be given to the Golf course to display.
