Warning!!! You have until Mar 1 2020 to get yourself registered with BSA and complete YPT training.

Our progress with BSA is going well. We are hoping to be in beta testing by mid-February. Once this is activated, here is what to expect:

Adults must enter their BSA Number, DOB, First and Last name. We will poll BSA and get back an answer. At this point one of three things can happen:
1) Your registration is verified - you can continue using normally
2) You are not registered or your registration has lapsed - your prior rights are revoked and you get the same screens that you see before your login
3) You are registered but your YPT has expired - your prior rights are revoked and you get the same screens that you see before your login

You have about a month to get yourself registered and complete YPT training. After that, your access will be revoked.

We are making some changes.   Starting March 01,  2020, every user must have a valid BSA ID to manage events, register scouts, and update counselor pages.   BSA does background checks on all registered adults and we will follow their lead before granting access.   

Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.  

How will we do this? 
When you update your profile, you will be required to provide: Last name, first name, BSA ID, and your Date of Birth.   The website will submit this to BSA to validate your account.  BSA will return your Council, District, Unit, and the date you completed Youth Protection training.  We will periodically validate this access level with BSA and update your registration status based on the data returned.

What should you do? 
Login to and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on  Let others in your unit know they should do the same.  We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

Welcome to the Troop and Pack 18 Merit Badge Conference

Troop 18 is part of the Buffalo District in the Jayhawk Area Council and has been providing this conference for over 9 years!

This year we offer several new Merit Badges and are also offering Eagle Merit Badges during multiple sessions! 

LUNCH time signoffs available. Camping available Friday Night.

Scouts, be prepared for your classes!

Please be sure to pick the correct lunch area to eat with your scouts (see below).



Schedule:  If you attended in the past make note of the updated schedule.

7:30 a.m.   Unit Check-In Begins                                   

8:30 a.m.   Flag and Opening ceremony                                             

9:00 a.m.   Morning Classes Begin

12:00         Lunch

1:00 p.m.   Afternoon Classes Begin

4:00 p.m.   Afternoon Classes End


  • There are multiple class locations.  Transportation to or from these locations are the responsibility of the unit or scout. 

    • Main campus at Shawnee Heights High School - 4201 SE Shawnee Heights Rd, Tecumseh, KS 66542

    • Tecumseh United Methodist Church (TUMC) - 334 SE Tecumseh Rd, Tecumseh, KS 66542

    • Golf MB at Lake Shawnee Golf Course - 4141 SE East Edge Rd, Topeka, KS 66609

    • Aviation MB at Topeka Regional Airport (Forbes Field) - 6510 SE Forbes Ave, Topeka, KS 66619

    • Lunch will be provided at remote locations to Scouts participants – Adults can purchase lunches during registration.  No extra lunches will be available at these locations due to logistics requirements.

  • There will not be a closing ceremony and you are free to leave after classes have dismissed. 

  • Please listen for program changes or adjustments at the opening ceremony.

General Information

  • Each Troop should plan on having leaders on site all day and provide us with their cell phone number for conference communication

  • Please provide a GOOD email during registration as some instructors may wish to contact participants with specific information prior to the conference.

  • Scout lunch is included in the registration fee. Adult lunch is available for $5.  Tickets will be in the unit envelope picked up during registration.   

  • Snack bar provided by Pack 18 during conference.

  • Scouts should wear their Class "A" uniform – except for class that require Class “B” uniforms (ie hiking, cooking, etc – see MB Prerequisites)

  • Food and drink are not allowed in the classrooms (except water in sealed containers).   

  • Use of electronic devices will not be tolerated during classroom instruction unless part of the class (see MB Prerequisites).

  • Scouts should come ready to learn.  MB Books, Pencil and paper in hand and any pre-requirements completed.  Bring worksheets if necessary.

  • Prerequisites - some Merit Badges will need outside work to complete, while others may not be completed this day.  Be prepared to show counselors proof of outside work when sign off is desired for outside items. 

Lunch Information

Lunch is provided for all registered scout participants.  Adults may purchase food tickets for $5 during registration.  Lunch will vary by location:

  • Shawnee Heights High School location – Sack lunch (Pizza, dessert and a bottle of water)

  • TUMC - lunch is prepared by the scouts in Cooking Merit Badge. No extra scout Lunches will be allowed, and a limited number of Adult Lunches are available.  Be sure to sign up for lunch during registration.

  • Aviation – Lunch will be provided at the Airport facilities.  Adults should register for lunches during registration.

  • Golf – Lunch will be provided at the golf course facilities.  Adults should register for lunches during registration.

Pack 18 will provide an on-site Snack Bar

Special food considerations – due to the number of attendants and remote locations, we are unable to offer special lunches for food sensitive people.  However, there are local restaurants that can provide special lunches for those in need.  Please contact us for a list of local restaurants.

Sustainability, Pets and Scholarship – Do it yourself Merit Badges - We have counselors available to sign off these classes during lunch.  Scouts must bring all completed worksheets and documentation to our counselors.

Unit Sign-up Instructions

Class Sessions

Classes are designated as AM (morning), PM (afternoon), or ALL DAY.  Scouts can be scheduled for a maximum of 1 AM and 1 afternoon PM classes or 1 ALL DAY class. 

Some classes offer 2 or 3 Merit Badges in one time slot.  You will only register for one and be automatically involved with those associated with it. See Session information in the table above for information on these classes.

Please do not register a Scout for two AM (morning), or two PM (afternoon) classes!

Event Camping

Friday night Camping at Tecumseh United Methodist Church is available to units that register.  LIMITED spots available at $1 fee per Scout/Scouter.  Please register for camping when registering for classes.

Payment Instructions for the Unit

Payments and Fees

Registration fee for the conference is $30 per Scout including lunch

Lunch tickets are $5 for Adults.  Please register with the FOOD activity for the main campus or FOOD 1 for classes at TUMC

Fees need to be prepaid as classes fill up quickly and this will expedite check-in. 

Fees for full classes that are not paid by Aug 1st may lose their spot in the class.
