Adults must enter their BSA Number, DOB, First and Last name as it appears on their BSA ID card. We will query BSA and get back an answer. At this point one of three things can happen:
1) Your registration is verified - you can continue using Meritbadge.info normally
2) You are not registered or your registration has lapsed - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login
3) You are registered but your YPT has expired - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login

You have had at least two months to get yourself registered and complete YPT training. If you feel your validation is not working, send us an email with the four data items listed and we will validate your entry.

We have no control over what is on file at BSA. If everything matches your BSA ID card, there should be no issues. If not, your validation will fail.

Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.

What should you do? 
Login to https://my.scouting.org/ and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on Meritbadge.info.  Let others in your unit know they should do the same.  We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

MERIT BADGE CLASS PREREQUISITES / REQUIRED MATERIALS

This provides the most current list of merit badge prerequisites and required materials.

Please, read this important section the night before the event for last minute updates.

Reminder:  It is strongly recommended that each Scout obtain and read the BSA merit badge pamphlet for their badge in its entirety prior to coming to class and be ready to discuss it.  Merit badge pamphlets are available at local Scout Shops and at www.scoutstuff.org.

Bugling

  • Must be proficient in bugle, trumpet or cornet.

  • Must bring your own instrument to class. 

  • Must bring Bugling merit badge pamphlet or copies of required bugle calls.

  • Practice the bugle calls in requirement 3, which can be found at www.usscouts.org/mb/bugle/BugleCalls.pdf .

  • Will complete all merit badge requirements except 2b and 6 in class.


Citizenship In The Nation *

  • Transportation may not be available.  Troop may need to provide transportation or Scout may need to carpool.

  • Complete requirements 2d, 3, 6 and 8 before class. Bring letter and response (if received) for requirement 8 to class.   

  • Includes FIELD TRIP to Boone County Heritage Museum.  Admission is free.  Bring signed consent form.

  • Complete prerequisites and class work to earn merit badge.


Coin Collecting

  • Requirement 5b (Here is a link to an online magazine:  www.coinworld.com/, and it can be accessed without having to subscribe or sign in).

  • Requirement 6 (We will discuss the programs in class.  For the coins: pocket change, piggy banks, or any local bank can easily help meet this part of the requirement).

  • Requirement 7 (We will discuss the mint marks and designer’s initials in class.  For the coins: pocket change, piggy banks, or any local bank can easily help meet this part of the requirement).

  • Requirement 9 (Unless the Scout already has what he needs, I recommend 9d.  Pocket change, piggy banks, or any local bank can easily help meet this requirement).

  • Requirement 10 (I will be using 10b, specifically the website of the U.S. Mint, for this requirement, and here is the link:  http://www.usmint.gov/).

  • *Not a requirement for the class, but I highly recommend each Scout purchasing and using the Whitman Boy Scout Merit Badge Coin Folder for badge requirements 6, 7, and 9.  It also contains helpful information for some of the other badge requirements.  To order it from Whitman, use this link:  https://www.whitman.com/store/Inventory/Detail/Boy-Scout-Merit-Badge-Coin-Folder.  The phone number is at the top of the web page.

  • Or

    the folder can be purchased at/ordered from the Books-A-Million in Branson:  phone number (417) 239-3702.  It may be better to call the store and have them ship it.  They normally only keep one or two folders in stock.

  • Complete prerequisites and class work to earn merit badge.


Emergency Preparedness *

  • Complete requirements 1, 2c & 8b if possible. Be ready to discuss.

  • Will not complete all merit badge requirements in class.


Environmental Science *

  • Requirements 1, 2 & 6.  Be prepared to discuss these requirements.


Family Life *

  • Prepare and bring documents for requirements 1, 2 and 3. 

  • Begin requirement 5

  • Note:  Requirement 6.b.2 (Understand the growing-up process and how the boyd changes, and making responsible decisions dealing with sex.) will be discussed.  However, this will not include a discussion of human anatomy or human reproduction.

  • Will not complete all merit badge requirements in class.


Fire Safety

  • TBD

  •  Requirement 6a – Conduct home safety survey and draw home fire escape plan.  (Sample Home Safety Checklist available at end of merit badge workbook.)

  • Will not complete all merit badge requirements in class.


First Aid *

  • Requirement 2d - Bring stocked first aid kit.

  • Bring printed merit badge worksheet (available at www.meritbadge.org).

  • Blue card with AT LEAST the name and troop # filled in.

  • Come to class prepared to take notes.


Forestry

  • TBD

  • Will not complete all merit badge requirements in class.


Home Repairs

  • Come prepared to work.  No slackers allowed.

  • Bring work clothes that you can get dirty.

  • Will not complete all merit badge requirements in class.


Mining In Society

  • No prerequisites.

  • Includes 2 hour, 60 mile round trip FIELD TRIP to mine near Berryville, AR.  Bring signed consent form.

  • Bring a lunch.


Moviemaking

  • Will complete all requirements to earn merit badge.


Robotics

  • Requirements 4 and 5 require the Scout to design and build a working robot.  If the Scout has done this or has participated on a robot team for a competition the requirement will be considered as satisfied. 

  • Will not complete all merit badge requirements in class.


Search And Rescue

  • No prerequisites.

  • May require an additional offsite session at a later date (TBD) to complete badge requirements.  Make arrangements with Merit Badge Counselor.

  • Will not complete all merit badge requirements in class.


Welding

  • $10 activity fee is required, payable at Check-In.

  • Bring clothes suitable for working in a welding shop.  Long sleeve shirt preferred.  NO POLYESTER OR FLANNEL.  NO FLIP-FLOPS, SANDALS, CROCS OR SIMILAR SHOES.

Welcome to the Ozark District Merit Badge University. 

Merit Badge University will be held on January 26, 2019 at the North Arkansas College - North Campus.

Registration for all Boy Scouts and Adult Leaders opens on 12/22/2018.

There is no registration fee for participating in the Ozark District Merit Badge University.  However, some classes may require a small activity fee for supplies or museum admission.  This information is or will be available in the MBU Activities section of this website.  Supply fees must be paid by cash or check at check-in on the day of the event.  

Citizenship in the Nation will include a field trip to the Boone County Historical Museum.  The admission fee has not been determined at this time.  Once the admission fee is set, it will reported in the IMPORTANT INFORMATION and PREREQUISITES/REQUIRED MATERIALS sections above, as well as whether the fee should be paid at check-in or at the museum.

TRANSPORTATION - ALL transportation TO and FROM Merit Badge University must be arranged within your troop. Carpooling is encouraged.

DIRECTIONS

From North of Harrison: Take US 62-65 South. Turn left onto the US 62-65 South bypass (Taco Bell is on the left corner). Go about 1 mile and turn left onto North Spring Road (between Pace Industries and White Oak Station/Shell and across the highway from Powell Farm Supply, formerly Race Brothers Farm Supply). North Arkansas College, North Campus is located on the left at the top of the hill.

From South of Harrison: Remain on US 62-65 North (do not turn on the business route). After you go through the first stop light, travel about 1 mile. Turn right onto North Spring Road (between Pace Industries and White Oak Station/Shell and across the highway from Powell Farm Supply, formerly Race Brothers Farm Supply). North Arkansas College, North Campus is located on the left at the top of the hill.

From Jasper, AR: Take AR Highway 7 North into Harrison. Continue onto S. Pine Street (still AR-7). Turn right onto West Central Avenue. Go 0.6 mile. Turn left onto AR-7 North/US 412 West/US-62 West/US-65 North. Travel about 1 mile (going through 1 stop light). Turn right onto North Spring Road (between Pace Industries and White Oak Station/Shell and across the highway from Powell Farm Supply, formerly Race Brothers Farm Supply). North Arkansas College, North Campus is located on the left at the top of the hill.

From Bergman, AR: Take AR Highway 7 South into Harrison. Turn right on to AR-43 West. Drive about 1 mile. Turn left onto North Spring Road. Drive about 0.9 mile. North Arkansas College, North Campus is located on the right side of the road. If you reach the stop sign by the White Oak Station/Shell, you have gone too far.
