Be sure to open, download and print the Merit Badge Adventure e-blast Packet as it will contain much helpful information, forms and more.  (Basically everything you need at your fingertips for an enjoyable experience by all.)  A 3 ring binder is a helpful tool in storing the MBA e-blast packet and passing it to the next youth leader within your Troop responsible for next year's sign ups to our event, MB Adventure.

ALL Scouts MUST register for their merit badge sessions using this online registration system.  Please be aware that Counselors can NOT enroll Scouts into their merit badge sessions.  Any Scouts whose name is not on the Counselors' roster will be asked to leave the session! (NO EXCEPTIONS!)

Why are Counselor names not listed?  Merit Badge Adventure feels favoritism would come into play for Scout's when they choose merit badge sessions.  The merit badge  program was originally designed  to introduce Scouts to life skills they would need when interacting with an adult they have never met before, outside of the school environment.  Prerequisites and class openings should be the Scout's deciding factors, not Counselor names.



For Current year Merit Badge Counselors only:

Merit Badge Counselors should be getting emails directly from the Seneca.MBA at gmail.com already.  If not, please let Merit Badge Adventure webmistress know at the email address above.

Looking class session rosters directly from the online system?  Only counselors that are already members of MeritBadge.info system as 'Merit Badge Counselor' can be added by the MBA webmistress (including those from out of Council) where they can then proceed on their own to pull their class rosters any time the Counselor wants.

How?  Create a profile (done through the 'Register New User' button in the top right hand corner).  Make sure you are set up in  the leadership position of 'Merit Badge Counselor'.   If you already have a profile, you will need to go into your personal information and change your leadership position.  Then email Seneca.MBA@gmail.com to ask the MBA webmistress to connect your profile to the merit badges sessions you are doing.  

Counselors will be connect  to their class roster via the 'Counselor Class Roster'  and have the ability to email all Scouts in their sessions and pull up their rosters right after the closing date.  Here is an Orientation pdf on how to do the connection.  The benefit is no waiting until the day of the event to see what scouts are in your sessions and from where.  Counselors can ask the MBA Webmistress for your class rooster but please consider whether you really need it now to help with your sessions, like maps of the scout's community, or if it is to satisfy your curiosity.  For MBA Webmistress/ Registrar, the last two weeks are the busiest time out of the entire five months before of putting together the event, Merit Badge Adventure.

Counselor  Roster and  Merit Badge Trackers: MBA Webmistress/Registrar does not give out rosters before the event as she is busy putting together and printing the Scouts' check in cards, Counselors' trackers, last minute details and  much more.  Each Counselors gets two trackers per session on the day of the event:  one for the Counselor to keep and one for MBA Registrar.  The MBA Webmistress/Registrar only needs to know which scouts completed the merit badge in your session.

Counselors must bring their own laptop, if they are showing videos, PowerPoint and etc.  Midlakes High School has smartboards, projectors, DVD/TV in most classrooms.  (Scouts should ALWAYS consider non-technology means in providing their prerequisites, proof and etc. to 'Be Prepared' as they are not told which Counselors will have laptops accessibility.)

LEAVE THIS ONLINE REGISTRATION SYSTEM FOR ONLY THE "MBASPL" AND HIS ADULT"MBA MENTOR"! 

(It will make your life easier.  The Seat Opening page will be updated weekly on Monday morning and color coded with yellow as a forewarning of sessions that can close out on Scouts hence the reason you have '2nd' choices on your color coded Troop sign up form.)

Please download and print the Merit Badge Adventure e-blast Packet, one time.  The MBA e-blast Packet will be used for the ENTIRE Troop!  (A 3 ring binder with 5 tab indexes are helpful holders that can be passed to the next youth or adult mentor as Troop roles transition yearly.)  Merit Badge Adventure Committee designed the Merit Badge Adventure e-blast Packet and its registration, and check in steps to follow the Boy Scout Patrol Method.  This is an opportunity for the Scouts to develop their leadership and communication skills, self initiative and more.  Please do not deny your scouts these benefits by doing for them what they, the scout, can do for themselves.   Instead guide, coach and mentor them along the way to their goals.

Registration is by Troop only.  All Scouts must register together with their Troop.

How?

1. Designate a Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) to be in charge of the Merit Badge Adventure event paperwork and more.  The Troop's "MBA SPL" will familiarize themselves with the information in the Merit Badge Adventure eblast Packet.  The "MBA SPL" will ask an adult to be his "MBA Mentor". (Make sure you download the Sign Up forms: Scouts, Adults and Contact Info AND prerequisites.to place out at Troop meetings.)

2. The "MBA Mentor's" role is to support the "MBA SPL" but not to do it for him.  Once all signups are completed and the "MBA SPL" will ask the "MBA Mentor" to register the information obtained by him on the "Sign Up Sheet" into the online registration system.  If a "MBA SPL" is technology-savvy, he may do the Troop's MBA online registration , under the guidance of the "MBA Mentor".  Here is an Orientation to Online Registration pdf for newbies.

3. "MBA SPL" will collect all monies and give them to their Troop Treasurer and/or their "MBA Mentor" along with the "Merit Badge Adventure Payment form".  The "MBA SPL"  should discuss the logistics of payment from Troop Treasurer to Seneca Waterways Council Service Center by either fax, snail mail or drop off. 



Food Ordering:

Scouts, Parents & Leaders CAN pre-order pizza lunch for $5.00 per person. (Please ADD EACH person's name to the online system so they can receive their food ticket which will be available at the event.)

Please be sure to collect all names for pre-ordered lunches: Scouts AND Adults! 

No names = NO lunches regardless of whether payment was received! (NO EXCEPTIONS!)

(Scouts receives his parents' lunch ticket when they check in unless their last names are different.)

How?  Scouts & adults can choose either Pepperoni OR Cheese for their $5.00 pre-ordered lunch. 

ADD EACH person into the online registration system, then CHOOSE either Pepperoni OR Cheese under the activity tab "Food-Pepperoni Pizza'  OR 'Food-Cheese Pizza'.



STEPS TO REGISTER:

PRE-WARNING --  EXPECT to spend time REGISTERING your Troop online, especially if this is your first time using MeritBadge.Info online registration system.  MeritBadge.Info  online registration system is VERY case sensitive in reading EACH difference and making them into two or more scouts for one Scout!  Make sure when filling out entries for each person's name they are exactly the same each time. (no extra spaces, switching between capital and small letters cases, different numbers and emails and etc.  (A quick trip registering during lunch break can have errors later.  Plan registration at a quiet time for yourself and 'somewhat' without time constraints...*winka) 

1. Set up a profile -- Click 'Register New User' in the upper right corner.  If you already have a profile with meritbadge.info, click 'sign on'.

2. Click 'Events' - white tab on your left side

3. Scroll down the date column to 11/21/2015 for 'Seneca District Merit Badge Adventure 2015 - Midlakes High School   AND Adult Leadership Trainings'.  Scroll across to the brown button ' SIGN UP' and click it.

4. After your 'CLEAR' the browser warning, scroll to the bottom for the blue 'Adults attending this event' and click on the brown button 'SELECT ONE OR MORE ADULTS TO ATTEND'.  Find  yourself and click the 'ADD' button. Then click 'RETURN TO REGISTRATION PAGE'.

5. 'ADD' your Scouts - for this you will need Scouts' emails (or their parent's email) and phones.  (PLEASE include any adult names by ADDING parents and leaders information so you can do step 7 below- preordered lunch.  NO names = NO tickets regardless if paid for at the Scout OFFICE.)

6. From there you will register each Scout by 'ADD'ing their merit badges. (and Parents & Leaders for pre-ordered lunches.)

7. Pre-ordered lunch is IN the list of merit badge sessions to choose from.  Choose either  'FOOD - Cheese Pizza'    OR  'FOOD - Pepperoni Pizza'.   PLEASE include any adult names by ADDING parents and leaders to during step 5 above when you 'ADD' your Scouts.



Hints:

~ 'ADD' button is your best friend. If you don't see it, TRY another browser.  Some work computers have pre-set locks while some home computers are older thus preventing your from seeing that vital 'ADD' button.

~ Add your 'early bird' sign ups and then weekly add your new scouts sign ups of  'procrastinating scouts'.  

~ FYI... Activity(Merit Badges, Training, and Food choices) and Counselor columns are preset by the system.  To make sure Scouts downloaded the CORRECT Counselor's prerequisites information, MBA put Counselor information under the 'session' button.  When looking at the bigger picture, less scouts came with the wrong prerequisites on the day of our event.  MBA Webmistress understands and apologizes in advance that this creates a bit more work for Troops.

~ There is a timer/timeout on MeritBadge. Info.  Practice hitting the save button often, especially if you are a first timer.  (Even MBA Webmistress/Registrar gets pinged out when uploading stuff...*smiles)

Common Questions Regarding the Online Registration System:

YES, Procrastinating Scouts can be added to your roster after you signed up your early bird Scouts!

Are adults and Leaders charged an event fee($7.00)? No, They are only charged ($5.00 per person) if they pre-ordered lunch.  Adult Leadership Trainings have fees attached to them depending on which one they are taking.

Can I register my son individually? Only if you are the only one in your Troop going.  Please be aware that the first person to register in the online system can lock out the rest of your Troop.  As Scouts under the Scout Law practice COURTESY, PLEASE INFORM your Troop that you are the 'MBA SPL' or 'MBA Adult Mentor' in charge of MBA online registration via your Troop e-lists or at the VERY NEXT Troop meeting / campout.

3.  In <Select an Event>, scroll down to find  '11/15/2014 - Seneca District Merit Badge Adventure 2014 (MBA) - Midlakes High School' , then click <Select>

4.  At bottom of page click <Show & Print Roster>.  (red button).  (This is also where you can ADD your procrastinating Scouts.)
