Notice!!! Meritbadge.Info will switch to the new site with BSA validation Friday morning March 13th.
If you wish to start using this site today, click here to launch meritbadge.info/mbn2
Adults must enter their BSA Number, DOB, First and Last name as it appears on their BSA ID card. We will query BSA and get back an answer. At this point one of three things can happen:
1) Your registration is verified - you can continue using Meritbadge.info normally
2) You are not registered or your registration has lapsed - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login
3) You are registered but your YPT has expired - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login
You have had at least two months to get yourself registered and complete YPT training. If you feel your validation is not working, send us an email with the four data items listed and we will validate your entry.
We have no control over what is on file at BSA. If everything matches your BSA ID card, there should be no issues. If not, your validation will fail.
Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.
How will we do this?
What should you do?
Login to https://my.scouting.org/ and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on Meritbadge.info. Let others in your unit know they should do the same. We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

Counselor Information |
Welcome and thank you for offering your expertise at the 2016 Merit Badge University. This year is a year of records and much of this goes to your credit for volunteering your time. We need additional MB counselors. You can see the current list of offerings at meritbadge.info. You can see the offerings for the Towpath MBU last year at https://www.scoutlander.com/publicsite/unithome.aspx?UID=21043. Please contact us if you are willing to be counsel a MB or two.
There will be a break out room for merit badge counselors. We’ll tell you what room that is at the registration desk. In general, we allowed greater numbers in classes where the requirements were more manageable in large numbers and where we had multiple Counselors assigned to a single room.
Here are some notes that should answer most of your questions: 1) Please wear your Class A uniform (if you have one).
2) Please come to the registration desk between 7:45am and 8:00am in the morning. The registration desk is in the lobby of the Bevier Gallery in the Booth building (07A). Park in E or F lot. These are closest to the Booth Building. You will be handed a packet with your room number and class roster(s).
3) Your Room will be open at 8:00am, which is the same time registration opens for all the boys. We highly recommend you be in your rooms no later than 8:00am for the morning session.
4) All rooms should have a projector, but “be prepared” and bring a laptop and a thumb drive. Likewise, you can “be prepared” by having a powerpoint version of your class and a non-powerpoint version of your class. The rooms have white boards. Bring your own markers.
5 The morning session begins at 9:00am and ends at 12:00pm.
6) The afternoon session begins at 1:00pm and ends at 4:00pm.
7) The boys are responsible for their own blue cards – not you.
8) Be sure to allot enough time to sign the blue cards. It is recommended that the very first thing you do is make sure all the boys have the blue cards filled out correctly. This includes your name and contact info as well as the list of requirement numbers for you to initial (suggestion, write this data on the white board).
9) It is highly encouraged that all boys use the worksheets available on the web to write down answers to the requirements. (This makes checking their pre-reqs a lot easier.) Despite our constant reminding, sometimes boys do not bring worksheets (or a writing utensil). It is recommended you bring extra worksheets and extra pens or pencils.
10) The merit badge counselor is responsible for bringing any other supporting material to complete the requirements not listed as a pre-requisite.
11) You are encouraged to bring other adult help or ask a visiting parent to sit in with you (if there’s room). Most of the classes are full and the extra hands to review worksheets will be helpful. People who help review do not need to be merit badge counselors, but only the merit badge counselor is allowed to sign off on the blue cards.
12) Although the goal is to allow every boy the opportunity to complete his blue card by the end of the day, it is OK for you to sign off on a partial blue card. The boy can contact you or any other counselor for that merit badge to sign off on the card once the final requirements are completed.
13) Please practice “Leave No Trace” principles and leave the room as you found it.
14) We will have a hospitality room for MB counselors with subs, pizza, and drinks for lunch. |
Unit Sign-up Instructions |
1) Please wear your Class A uniform (if you have one).
2) Remember, please bring at least two adults for every ten boys in your troop. At least one shouldn’t be a merit badge counselor.
3) The registration desk, located in the lobby of the BOOTH building (07 or BOO), will open between 8:00am and 8:30am. Park in E or F lot. These are closest to the Booth Building.
4) The adult leader for the troop will receive the materials for the troop. The materials will contain all pre-registration materials, including room assignments.
5) The morning session begins at 9:00am and ends at 12:00 pm.
6) Two slices of pizza and a drink will be provided for lunch to all registered scouts. Adult leaders will have to buy their own. Please bring cash for pizza and drinks. Additional food for leaders and parents is available from Nathan's (soup), Ben and Jerry's (ice cream), and Bytes (snacks). These places accept cash or credit cards. It is important that the scouts stay on site at lunch. If the KIOSK merit badge counselors need to talk to the scouts, they will do so during the lunch period.
7) The afternoon session begins at 1:00pm and ends at 4:00pm.
8) The boys are responsible for their own blue cards – not the merit badge counselors. We will have no extra blue cards at the event, so each troop is responsible for bring extras if needed.
9) Be sure to fill out the blue cards correctly. This includes the name and contact info of the merit badge counselor (which will be given at the start of class) as well as the list of requirement numbers for the Merit Badge Counselor to initial.
10) All boys should use the worksheets available on the web to write down answers to the requirements. (This makes checking their pre-reqs a lot easier.) Also, each boy should bring at least 2 writing utensils.
11) We will ask adult leaders to check on the availability of completed Kiosk Merit Badge blue cards for your troop at lunch.
12) Parents and adult leaders are encouraged to sit in on the merit badge classes (if there is room). Most of the classes are full and the extra hands to review worksheets will be helpful. People who help review do not need to be merit badge counselors, but only the merit badge counselor is allowed to sign off on the blue cards.
13) Although the goal is to allow every boy the opportunity to complete his blue card by the end of the day, it is OK for boys to get signed off on a partial blue card (except for the Kiosk Merit Badges). After MBU, the boy can contact any counselor for that merit badge (not just the one who taught the class) to sign off on the card once the final requirements are completed.
14) Please practice “Leave No Trace” principles and leave the room as you found it. |
