Notice!!! Meritbadge.Info will switch to the new site with BSA validation Friday morning March 13th.
If you wish to start using this site today, click here to launch meritbadge.info/mbn2
Adults must enter their BSA Number, DOB, First and Last name as it appears on their BSA ID card. We will query BSA and get back an answer. At this point one of three things can happen:
1) Your registration is verified - you can continue using Meritbadge.info normally
2) You are not registered or your registration has lapsed - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login
3) You are registered but your YPT has expired - your prior rights are revoked and you get the read-only screens that you see before your login
You have had at least two months to get yourself registered and complete YPT training. If you feel your validation is not working, send us an email with the four data items listed and we will validate your entry.
We have no control over what is on file at BSA. If everything matches your BSA ID card, there should be no issues. If not, your validation will fail.
Why are we doing this?
1. To provide higher security and validation of all adult users.
2. To clean up the mess we've accumulated via 15 years of poor user data entry.
How will we do this?
What should you do?
Login to https://my.scouting.org/ and copy your BSA ID Number then update your profile on Meritbadge.info. Let others in your unit know they should do the same. We are giving you 2.5 months advanced notice to make this work.

Sponsor Information |
We will update as needed prior to event. We are still finalizing the Merit Badges being offered and recruiting Merit Badge Counselors for this event. If you are a Merit Badge Counselor and would like to help, contact Tom Morin at tommorin1776@gmail.com
Purpose: to empower our youth to gain knowledge and lead
Hosted by Atlanta Area Council and Troop 1776.

Attending this Clinic does not guarantee that the Scouts will receive the merit badge—they must complete their all prerequisites as well. While the National Advancement policy does not restrict badges based on age, practicially there are some subjects that require more maturity and knowledge to grasp concepts and complete the Merit Badge.

Description |
The Merit Badge University is an Quality Merit Badge Program that helps Scouts learn about different fields of knowledge by recruiting experienced professional counselors and maintaining a limited classroom size. The Merit Badge University is also community service Project. We take a Saturday each year and teach boys Merit Badges in a University setting. This event is promoted via www.meritbadge.info.
Please be advised that in order to participate in this event each Troop is required to file a separate request for a Tour Plan with their local Council. Here is the BSA’s definition of the Tour Plan: "Units complete this form when planning for local, national, or international adventure. The plan helps ensure the unit is properly prepared, that qualified and trained leadership is in place, and that the right equipment is available for the adventure." The Tour plan is a Pledge of Performance. A single, accessible point of contact for MBU use is required. We are guests of Oglethorpe University. There shall be NO littering, defacing or destruction of any structure. Our behavior will determine whether or not we will do this event again. Many Merit Badge Counselors will EMAIL class information prior to the merit badge event. In the spirit of BSA Youth Protection guidelines, please provide an email address for the Scouts parents rather than the individual Scout. The Scoutmaster should not use his email address to register all boys in his troop.
*** ALSO, SOME MERIT BADGE CLASSES REQUIRE A PARENT TOUR PERMISSION SIGNATURE. PLEASE BRING IT TO THE MERIT BADGE COUNSELOR. Forms may be downloaded here. ***
CLASSROOM SETTING AND EXPECTATIONS:
We offer hands-on quality merit badge classes. Each Merit Badge Class is staffed with professional/expert instructors in the subject matter. It is our intent to create an environment where Scouts have the opportunity to continue their advancement program. It is not our intention to create a so-called "merit badge factory" that produces merit badges with minimal work required from the Scouts. Scouts who come with that expectation will be disappointed at the end of the day. Merit badge courses are planned and presented by qualified adult counselors who are willing to take the time to share their knowledge with the Scouts.
Scouts are strongly encouraged to read the Merit Badge Booklet and finish all pre-requisites before attending the Merit Badge Clinic. They are also expected to provide the parents' email address for Merit Badge Counselor communication.
RULES FOR PARTICIPATION:
1.) Each unit must provide one adult for every 4 boys who participate. This will help us with crowd control, as well as insure quality of results within the classroom environment.
2.) Scouts must have prior approval from their Scoutmaster before attending.
3.) Scouts must behave in a Scout-like manner. Disruptive youth will be removed from the group and either spend the remainder of the day with their Scoutmaster or be picked up by their parent/guardian.
4.) The Unit adults are responsible for the Scouts who attend.
5.) Leaders and Scouts are to keep all meeting areas free of trash and encourage other to do the same.
RIGHT TO LIMIT OR CANCEL:
The Merit Badge University will reserve the right to limit or cancel any class. Merit Badges to be offered are subject to change based on MB Counselor availability and class minimums. Registration by Troop is REQUIRED. Open and ending enrollment will be limited to the dates above indicated. NO WALK-INS will be allowed.
FIRST COME FIRST SERVE:
Scouts are admitted to classes on a first come, first served basis via the online registration system. There is no waiting list for any of the merit badges classes. Should you encounter booked classes, please monitor this website in case seats become available.
FIRST AID STATION:
The First Aid Station is available to all Boy Scouts and Leaders in the lobby of Hearst Hall.
UNIFORM:
Girls and Boy Scouts: the Full Class A uniform is the official uniform for the day. The merit badge jacket or sash may also be worn.
CODE OF CONDUCT:
The Scout Oath, the Law, and the Outdoor Code shall be the code of the Merit Badge Day. A Scout whose conduct is not consistent with the code will be directed to leave the grounds immediately. Adequate supervision must be provided by each participating unit. Discipline is the responsibility of the Scoutmaster or other assigned leaders in charge of the troop.
TRANSPORTATION:
Troop Leaders must coordinate arrival and departure time for transportation. Troops need to make certain that they have adequate transportation for their Scouts. Please advise parents NOT to drop or pick up scouts. ALL transportation TO and FROM The Merit Badge University must be arranged within your Troop. Troops may not leave Scouts by themselves to be picked up by parents at a later time. We will not render sitting services.
PARKING: Parking for this event will be done in the parking lots adjacent to the Dorough Fieldhouse. There is no charge for parking. Access to Oglethorpe University is restricted prior to 7:00 AM.
CLEAN UP:
The Scout is clean. Troop Leaders please coordinate with your troop to clean the premises and to keep the classrooms in the same condition as found. Future offerings of the Merit Badge University will largely depend on how neat we leave the place. All garbage must be properly disposed into designated containers or carried out.
SECURITY:
Because the public has access to the school, Units will need to exercise their own vigilance. Report any incidents to the event organizers or the campus police.

Counselor Information |
All Scouts must bring to class the following:
- Blue Card SIGNED by their Scoutmaster (one per each Merit Badge)
- Merit Badge booklet
- Any pre-requisite work.
The Blue Cards will be updated with tasks completed in class and returned to the Scouts BEFORE they depart the classroom. It is the responsibility of the Scout to request and obtain his Blue Card.
PREREQUISITES:
The Merit Badge Counselor will give credit for completed requirements ONLY. The Scout should complete all other requirements not covered in class, at his own pace and with his own troop counselors. Class work will be followed by individual Scout’s projects and his ability to fulfill all requirements. A Scout should come prepared for the Merit Badge by reading the Merit Badge book. While not required, there are unoffical worksheets available Merit Badge worksheet (http://usscouts.org/mb/mbindex.asp) that can assist in the preparation.

Unit Sign-up Instructions |
Many classes have pre-requisites which must be done if you wish to complete the badge during class. Some classes also have age and/or rank requirements. Unless indicated otherwise, all other requirements for the Merit Badge should be covered in class. For ALL classes, Scouts are required to READ and BRING the Merit Badge pamphlet. Also, Scouts are required to BRING a SIGNED Blue Card from the Scoutmaster.
Whiel there is no minimum age requirement for any Merit Badge, there are certain Badges that are better if the Scout is older as he will have a greater understanding of the subject matter. Any badges we offer are open to any Scout but we do have some that we recommend that a minimum age be considered before a Scoutmaster approves his Scout to go for the Merit Badge.
